RECIPES

This section is more about ideas
rather than the recipes themselves.

Cooking can be...
* an edible art project for children
* an inexpensive gift for a loved one
* a sure-fire way to draw your co-workers away from their computers

PAVLOVA

A meringue based dessert named after Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova. It was created in honor of her visit to Australia and New Zealand in the 1920's. It remains an important part of the national cuisine in both countries.

The dessert was inspired by her tutu.

FATHER'S DAY BBQ SAUCE

The best part?  They might invite you over to enjoy the gift you gave them.

WORLD CUP O'Gazpacho

I kicked off our World Cup bracket challenge at work with some homemade Gazpacho - courtesy of an authentic recipe my sister gave me from her time studying in Granada, Spain.  My co-workers, who actually go to the gym during their lunch break, felt it was the perfect "after work-out" refreshment.  (Hola, Kristopher & Sele!)
The other benefit of "international cooking themes" is that you find yourself at mom and pop shops you didn't even know existed. Croatian Chocolates, Greek Baklava, Japanese "Pocky" sticks.

OLD FASHIONED PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
There are 2 recipes in this cookbook that I use all of the time: Bruce's Pancakes and Granddad's Peanut Butter Cookies.  I'm sure all of the healthy recipes are delicious too.  Ha-ha.  Just haven't gotten around to them yet.  These cookies are so perfect though - can't say enough about their fluff, crunch and comfort.  Great to bring to a BBQ.
